Benchmark Studies

CREW Austin Benchmark Studies examine the major forces shaping growth, development, and quality of life across the Greater Austin Metro Region. Conducted every five years, these studies gather regional perspectives and translate them into practical insight for commercial real estate leaders, civic partners, and community stakeholders working to support stronger outcomes for Central Texas residents.

2025 Regional Research

Leaps and Bounds | The Now and Future Austin Metro was CREW Austin’s inaugural benchmark study. The research recognizes both the extraordinary pace of the region’s growth and the challenges that accompany it, including affordability, infrastructure strain, workforce needs, cultural preservation, and health. The study offers a comprehensive look at how Central Texas can grow by design, not by default.

The Roundtable Insights Report, published in April 2025, captures the voices of more than 120 leaders who participated in six cross-sector roundtables across the Austin Metro. Sessions were held in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, and Caldwell Counties, along with one metro-wide session. The report identifies ten recurring regional priorities and includes county-by-county snapshots that reflect local opportunities and concerns. Its findings helped shape the subsequent online survey, which reached nearly 21,000 residents across the region.

The Capstone Report, published in October 2025, brings the research together. It combines roundtable findings, resident survey data, and additional analysis into concise, actionable briefs on the most critical issues shaping the Austin Metro. The report addresses housing affordability, workforce pipelines, infrastructure, green space, cultural preservation, and health as infrastructure. Together, these briefs offer practical guidance for supporting healthier, more equitable outcomes across Central Texas.
